SGPC asked for passports from the pilgrims willing to visit Pakistan on Guru Nanak's anniversary

AMRITSAR: A group of Sikh devotees will be sent by the Shiromani Committee in November 2021 to celebrate the birth anniversary of the first Guru Nanak at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. In this regard, the visa process has been started by the SGPC, under which the pilgrims will be able to submit their passports by August 15, 2021.

Disclosing this here today in a press release here today Advocate Harjinder Singh, Chief Secretary of the SGPC said that like every year, the SGPC would send a Jatha to Pakistan on the occasion of Guru Nanak's birth anniversary for which the pilgrims could send their passports.

He said that the devotees who want to visit Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib and other shrines in Pakistan on this historic occasion should send their passports along with the recommendation of the constituency members of the Shiromani Committee to the Yatra department at the Shiromani Committee office.

He informed that it was mandatory for the pilgrims to attach a photocopy of Aadhaar card, voter card or ration card along with their passport as proof of identity. The Chief Secretary appealed to the Sangat to submit their passports and documents to the SGPC in time so that further action could be taken to complete the visa process.

The Chief Secretary of the SGPC said that this time on the instructions of the SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur, the SGPC was also providing services to the pilgrims of Haryana for obtaining visas. Under the Haryana state quota, pilgrims can send their passports to the Shiromani Committee's sub-office in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
