AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has appointed 74 granthis for historic gurdwaras and appointment letters were given by Bibi Jagir Kaur here today.

On this occasion Bibi Jagir Kaur informed that the Shiromani Committee has selected 74 Granthi Singhs on the basis of tests and interviews out of which appointment letters have been issued to about 44 Granthi Singhs today.

While handing over the appointment letter, Bibi Jagir Kaur, while addressing the Granthi Singhs, said that the service of Wazir Granthi Singh, the Wazir of the Guru's house, is very sacred and the maintenance of its sanctity and decency is the greatest responsibility.

At the same time, adhering to the Panthic code of conduct while caring for the Gurdwaras is an important part of Granthi Singh's service.

She said that at present various mischiefs were being committed by the anti-Sikhs at Gurdwaras and incidents of indecency were also taking place. In such a case, it is the responsibility of Granthi Singh to act consciously to supervise the Gurdwaras.

She said that we get the etiquette of taking care of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from history, because the Fifth Guru Ji chose a wise Sikh like Baba Buddha Ji for the appointment as Granthi at the inauguration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. Done At the same time, Bhai Mani Singh is also a great role model for Granthi Singhs and it is the duty of every Granthi to take care of the historical personalities by making them his guide.

On this occasion Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna, a member of the Shiromani Committee also addressed the Granthi Singhs and urged them to take care of the service as per Panthic etiquette.

She also said that Granthi Singh should also have the responsibility of preaching in the towns around his place of service.
