PATIALA: During a joint campaign launched by the Punjab Mandi Board, Food and Civil Supplies Department and the Police against the illegal sale of paddy in Punjab Mandis, Seven truckloads of paddy being brought to Punjab from UP intercepted at Shambhu border today.
Divulging the details, District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Mr. Harsharanjit Singh Brar said that as per the strict instructions of the Punjab Food and Civil Supply Minister Mr. Bahrat Bhushan Ashu, a joint team of Punjab Mandi Board, Food and Civil Supplies Department and Police was formed to conduct a joint operation on the interstate borders of Patiala district. These teams would curb the bogus sale of paddy procured from other states and supplied to Punjab Mandis.
Meanwhile, investigation has been started to unearthen the motive of shifting of paddy from UP to Punjab, said DFSC Mr Brar and following the outcome of the investigation, further action would be initiated. He further said that at the both interstate borders of district Patiala (Shambhu near Rajpura) and Ramnagar (near Samana) teams have been put on alert to check the paddy trucks coming from other states to Punjab.
