Rs 729 crore released to farmers against paddy procurement in Kapurthala

KAPURTHALA:The district kapurthala has set the new benchmarks in paddy procurement even in the covid times as the district have released Rs. 729.53 crore to the farmers against the procured paddy , which becomes more than 86% of the payment to be made till today.

Deputy commissioner kapurthala Deepti Uppal said that the district administration have made adequate arrangements for smooth procurement in 106 grain markets which includes 42 notified mandis and others are temporarily set up to avoid rush in the season.

She said that till today the district have registered the arrival of 519481 MT paddy which is totally procured by the state agencies.

On the lifting front , the district have witnessed more than 100 % lifting in the stipulated time frame. As per the norms the 411237 MT paddy , out of purchased paddy to be lifted and the district have lifted 478013 MT till today which counts 122 % against the fixed parameters.

It may be mentioned here that the PUNGRAIN has procured maximum paddy with 222145 MT , MARKFED 167336 MT, PUNSUP 87885 MT , PSWC 37620 MT, FCI 4436 MT and 59 MT by private rice sheller owners.
