AMRITSAR: Taking strict notice of the removal of Sikh candidates' necklaces in the Central Teacher Eligibility Examination, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has directed to investigate it.

He said that this is a manifestation of anti-Sikh mentality, which cannot be accepted. Yesterday, a case of Sikh candidates' necklaces being removed in the examination center built at Delhi Public School in village Bhokhra, Bathinda for the Teacher Eligibility Examination came to light.

Advocate Dhami said that Punjab is a region with a majority Sikh population, where everyone knows that necklaces are an integral part of Sikhs, but despite this, the act of removing necklaces from Sikh candidates is unfortunate. He said that on whose behest such acts are taking place in Punjab, the land of Gurus, this is the subject of investigation. Is the Punjab government approving this, if so, what could be more tragic than this.

SGPC President Advocate Dhami said that this serious matter will be investigated seriously and a report will be written to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for action. At present, it is being investigated.

For this investigation, Gurdwara Sri Hajiratan Sahib Bathinda Manager Darshan Singh, Sub-Office Talwandi Sabo In-charge Bhola Singh and Pracharak Singhs have been assigned the duty. Appropriate action will be taken as per the investigation report of this committee.

Advocate Dhami also appealed to the people of Punjab to register their protest against such acts on the spot. Any anti-Sikh action should be challenged and it is the duty of every Sikh to represent the nation by keeping his/her word in the Sikh context present on the spot and if such acts continue to receive silent approval, the courage of the anti-Sikh elements will increase further.
