Punjab’s own regional party, SAD is the only answer to the woes of the State: Sukhbir Singh Badal

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | November 07, 2025 08:51 PM

TARN TARAN: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Punjab’s own regional party was the only answer to the woes of the State as well as nine years of corruption and scam tainted misrule of the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), even as he appealed for wholehearted support for the SAD in the bypoll.

The SAD president, who addressed public meetings here besides meeting the Bar Council, said “the SAD alone can take a pro- Punjab stance if there is any conflict with Haryana. In direct contrast all other national parties play both sides and can never rise to your expectations”.

Mr Badal also spoke on how AAP had betrayed each and every section of society and how the party was now resorting to false cases, intimidation of voters and even opposition candidates and their families in a last ditch attempt to win the election. “The people have however made up their mind and have resolved to support the SAD and it’s candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa to teach a befitting lesson to AAP”, he added.

Mr Sukhbir Badal also expressed anguish at the manner in which the Congress party was insulting the Dalit community and even disrespecting the Guru Sahiban. “As if insulting the Dalit community by casting casteist slurs against the proud Mazhabi community is not enough for Punjab Congress president, now under his leadership the Congress party has disrespected Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji and Bhai Jeevan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji)”. He said the entire community was pained that the Congress had decided to place pictures of Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi above the pictures of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib and Baba Jeevan Singh Ji on banners placed on their stage during election campaigning. “This amounts to a religious sin and the Congress party should seek penance for the same.

The SAD president also visited the Bar Association in the court complex here and interacted with the lawyers, all of whom assured they would support Principal Randhawa’s candidature. Mr Badal spoke on how during the SAD tenure in government a landmark decision had been taken and executed to build court complexes across the State. While hearing the views of the lawyers, he assured that all their demands would be taken up for resolution immediately after formation of a SAD government in the State.
