FEROZEPUR: The Punjab Government, Department of Higher Education and Languages has issued instructions to ensure compliance with the State Language Act, 1967 and the State Language Act (Amendment), 2008. Orders have been issued under this Act that "Names of all Government Offices, Departments, Institutions, Semi-Government Institutions, Boards, Corporations, Educational Institutions etc. of Punjab Government and Names of Roads, Nameplates, Milestones, Sign Boards Language (Gurmukhi script).
If you want to write a name in any other language, write after Punjabi language (Gurmukhi);he added.
Giving information in this regard, Mr. Jagdeep Singh Sandhu District Language Officer, Ferozepur said that Punjab Government is very serious about this matter and no negligence can be used.
Punjabi mother tongue is the lifeblood of the state of Punjab and it is the pride of Punjabiness. Therefore, all those who fall under the relevant orders are requested to check the places falling under their jurisdiction and also to pay special attention to the correct spelling.
He further said that If any such deficiency is found, it should be rectified by the concerned authorities as soon as possible.
