Punjab government waives license fee for NGO projects of Social Welfare Activities for destitute and specially abled persons

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla, on Thursday, said that the state government has waived off license fee for the projects run by registered Non Government Organisations (NGOs) or by not-for-profit organisations for welfare of destitute and specially abled people.

The cabinet minister said that the notification in this regard has also been issued and benefits will be extended to all the eligible beneficiaries with immediate effect. Mr. Singla said that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Government has continuously been working for the welfare of the people and no stone will be left unturned for the overall development of the state.

While divulging details, the cabinet minister said that license fee was the charges in respect to provide access to projects or institutions to the roads. He said that all the constructions including petrol pumps, educational institutions, hotels etc need to apply for license to get access to state highways, major districts roads, other district roads or rural roads. He said that prior to this notification, these welfare institutions had to submit license fee ranging from Rs. 1.5 lakh to 6 lakh for a period of 5 years.

Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the Public Works Department is a premier agency of the Punjab Government for construction, up gradation and maintenance of roads, buildings and bridges in the State. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, PWD also endeavoured to provide technical lead to other departments of the State Government by introducing latest construction techniques and materials, so as to achieve higher standards.
