Punjab farmers exempt goods trains to run till Nov 5, agitation to continue

CHANDIGARH: The 30 farmer unions of Punjab have decided to continue their agitation against the farm bills but allowed the goods trains to fun till November 5 to facilitate supply of coal for thermal plants in the state.

Balbir Singh Rajowal BKU leader said that they welcome the resolution adopted by Punjab Vidhan Sabha, rejecting the three farm laws enacted by Narender Modi government at center but raised objections to other bills saying, "It could have been better". He said that it was victory of farmer organisations that Capt Amarinder Singh government was forced to pass state bills in the assembly. He welcomed that all opoosition parties on this issue are on one platform.

The BKU leaders said that they would continue to gherao BJP leaders of Punjab and would not allow Reliance outlets to function till center withdraws farm laws. BKU leaders said that they would force the center to withdraw the laws which are against farmer community.

Rajewal also said that farmers bodies of all states would hold a meeting on November 4 to start nation wide agitation. He said that other states must follow Punjab in rejecting the central farm laws. He said that Rajasthan assembly has already rejected the central laws.
