Punjab CS issues notice to PCS officers to join duty by 2 PM or face suspension, punitive action

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Secretary V.K.Janjua today issued notice to all striking PCS officers to join their duty by 2 PM or face suspension and break in service besides administrative action Punjab Civil Services(Punishment and Appeal) rules 1970.

Chief Secretary has quoted the order of Chief Minister who has ealier told PCS officers to join duty by 2 PM/ The PCS officers are on strike against arrest of a PCS officer Narinder Singh Dhaliwal by Vigilance in a bribery case.

Chief Secretary said that it has come to his notice that PCS officers are not attending their duties in the garb of sone strike.He stated, " Such a strike amount to blackmailing and arm twisting which cant be tolerated by any government". The letter said that PCS officers are not workers who can form a union and strike work under labour laws.

He further said that this unauthorised absence of PCS officers and their strike is ilelgal and PCS officers who do not join duty by 2 PM today shall be suspended and their unauthorised absence from duty shall be treated as dies-non which will result in break in theri service.

All the PCS officers who are on strike or unauthorised strike are hereby directed to join their duties by 2 PM today, otherwise they will be placed under suspension, period of absence from duty will be deemed as dies-non and further disciplinary action will ensure under Punjab Civil Services(Punishment and Appeals) rules 1970, CS has said.
