Bhagwant Mann opposes release of extra water to Haryana, sits on dharna at Nangal Dam
NANGAL DAM:  Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today strongly opposed the release of extra water to Haryana and sat on dharna at Nangal Dam. Local MLA and Education minister Harjot Bains also joined CM along with hundreds of AAP workers.

While addressing the media, Mann said that he was considering to call all party meeting and special session on the issue of river water's issue. He said that they would not allow the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to release water over and above the Haryana's share. He said that Haryana was getting water to meet its drinking water needs. They suddenly demanded 8500 cusecs of water against their quota of 66 cusecs. He said that the cycle of releasing Haryana share is from 21 of every month. "We will allow the water to flow from May 21, he added. He said that Haryana needs water for irrigation and Punjab also needed water for irrigating our fields. We have no extra water, he stated.

Mann said that center and Hryana government had hatched a conspiracy to deprive Punjab of water through B.B.M.B. We are siting here and will see how B.B.M.B can release the water.

Punjab CM hit back on Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini who alleged that Mann is playing politics. Mann said if it was politics to save Punjab's water, he will do it 24 hours a day. He advised BJP president Suni Jakhar and Union Minister Ravneet Bittu to stand in support of Punjab. He told BJP leaders to convey to center about stand of Punjab.
