Punjab CM appeals farmers to open rail traffic, heading for severe power crisis

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today made an appeal to agitating farmers to withdraw their stir and open the railway traffic to avoid severe power crisis.

In a video message, Capt Amarinder Singh said that Punjab was suppying free power to farmers and if thermal plants are closed due to coal shortage, it would be difficult to supply electricity to farming sector. He said that buying huge quantity of power from national grid would not be possible due to cost factors. He said that coal reserve was at critical level.He said that shortage of Urea would be major problem.

Chief Minister said that Punjab would soon offer over one lakh jobs in government sector. He said that cabinet had taken decision on this.He said that state government has introduced new post matric scholarship scheme since center was not giving funds. He said that scholarship would now be given to families having income upto 4 lakh against Rs.2.5. lakh in the central scheme.

On Covid-19 Chief Minister stated that recovery from virus doesnt mean person has recovered fully. He said that its post disease effects remain for long. He said that Punjab is improving in recovery. He said that people reaching in level two and three becomes more volnerable to morality. He said that people must reach hospital when they get first symptoms of cold and cough. He said that 3025 people had die in Punjab.

He told people that Covid-19 is returning in second wave in many countries. He said that masks were effective guard in absence of vaccine.

Capt Amarinder said that center had framed new laws against farmers and they have summoned special session to discuss the matter. He said that they would go to court to save Punjab and agriculture.
