Punjab always leads nation in difficult times, says Deepti Uppal DC Kapurthala

KAPURTHALA: Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Deepti Uppal said that the people of Punjab have always led the country in difficult times and the people of Punjab would emerge victorious in the war against Karona just like the war of independence.

During a function dedicated to the 74th Independence Day at the District Administrative Complex here today, the Deputy Commissioner performed the flag hoisting ceremony. In her address, the Deputy Commissioner said that She was hopeful that with the same courage and fortitude with which we had won the war of independence, we would soon be able to defeat Corona.She said that she was proud to have the opportunity to hoist the national flag on the land called Paris of Punjab.

She said that Punjab government was paying special attention to the development of Kapurthala, under which a smart school has been inaugurated at Kapurthala at a cost of Rs. 11 lakh at Sidhwan Dona and Sakhi One Stop Center would be started at Civil Hospital Kapurthala. Apart from this Rs.42.35 lakh has been spent, besides widening of link roads in Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi constituencies at a cost of Rs.87.16 lakh.

She said that a new training center has been set up in the district to promote fish farming at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs. Apart from this Rs. 46 crore has been released under MGNREGA for the development of rural areas in Kapurthala.

D.C. also launched the 'Drug Free India' campaign in the district to eradicate drugs, create awareness among the people about the ill effects of drugs and for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts by the health department. Under this campaign a special committee has been constituted which will successfully implement this campaign in the district. Apart from creating awareness among the students in the higher educational institutions, this committee would also give priority to the efforts for counseling and rehabilitation of drug addicts in the hospitals.

She expressed satisfaction over the fact that the government schools of Kapurthala district have bagged the first position in the state in the pass percentage for the first time.She sought the cooperation of the people to defeat Corona and thanked everyone fighting against Corona and said that the instructions issued by the government and experts should be followed.
