Prof. Bhullar's Canceling release file exposes Kejriwal's anti-Sikh face: Advocate Dhami

AMRITSAR: The cancellation of Davinderpal Singh Bhullar's release case by the Kejriwal government in Delhi has been termed as tampering with Sikh sentiments.

During the meeting of the Interim Committee held at the headquarters of the SGPC , Strongly criticizing the negative attitude towards Bhullar's release, the Government of India has been asked to intervene in the matter.

After the gathering, Mr Harjinder Singh Dhami, Advocate, President of the SGPC told reporters that the anti-Sikh attitude of the Aam Aadmi Party has now come to the fore.

He said that on the one hand, Kashori Lal, convicted of 1984 Sikh genocide, has been granted parole by the Delhi government many times, while on the other hand, despite the removal of all restrictions, the Sikh prisoner Prof. Bhullar. An obstacle is being found in the case of Davinderpal Singh Bhullar.

He said that the release of Sikh prisoners was announced by the Government of India in 2019 on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Bhullar's file is not correct. The SGPC will also take up the matter with the Government of India and if necessary legal action will be taken.

He said that the statement made by Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal in the past regarding the 1984 Sikh genocide which gave a clean chit to the Congress also showed his anti-Sikh mentality.

The Shiromani Committee President demanded that Prof. Bhullar and every Sikh prisoner who has completed his sentence should be released.


The Interim Committee has appealed to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi not to rush into naming the day of martyrdom of the 10th Patshah's sons as 'Veer Bal Diwas'.

Advocate Dhami said that although the decision of the Government of India regarding Sahibzada was welcome, its name should be implemented only after the opinion of Sikh organizations under the patronage of Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

He said that in the past Swami Brahmdev Dera belonging to Rajasthan had taken stern notice of the clumsy act of changing the verses of Gurbani, on which an apology has been sent today.

He said that governments should make strict rules on matters which hurt the feelings of Sikhs on social media.

Apart from this, the cases of forcing Sikhs to take off their kakars during examinations are also reprehensible. In this regard, the SGPC has decided to set up a sub-committee, which will liaise with the governments and the Minorities Commission from time to time.


Mr Dhami said that a portrait of Kartar Singh will also be displayed in the Central Sikh Museum. At the same time the Gurmat Sangeet Academy being run by the Shiromani Committee at Sri Anandpur Sahib is now named after Prof. Kartar Singh.
The Interim Committee has given its approval in this regard.

A condolence resolution was passed on the demise of Dr Hardas Singh and tributes were paid.
