Power demands In Punjab dips below 5000 MW, Engineers to contribute one day salary in CM relief fund

PATIALA: Incessant rain continued to wreak havoc across the Punjab on Monday, and flooding in a dozen districts of state the power demand in Punjab touched a low power demand of less than 5000 MW on Tuesday morning.

On Monday the minimum power demand was 5400 MW and maximum demand during the day was 6500—MW.On Sunday the maximum power demand was 7974 MW and minimum power demand was 5641 MW. On Saturday the maximum power demand was 9121 MW and minimum demand was 7490 MW.

On Tuesday morning , the PSPCL own generation was around 2350 MW and drawl from the grid was around 3400 MW. The total 7 thermal units were shut today and six of them on no demand. The solar power during the day was only 29.3 LU and remained less than 200 MW while on a sunny day it exceeded 450 MW.

The hydro generation at Bhakra, Pong and Ranjit Sagar Dam remained at maximum. As per NRLDC daily report On Monday the Bhakra power houses generated 293 lakh units, Ranjit Sagar 146 LU, and Pong Dam 85 LU.The inflow in Pong Dam was 91000 cusecs of water, At Bhakra 114000 cusecs and at Ranjit sagar Dam 42600 Cusecs. The water level at Bhakra is 1676.7 feet, 1390 feet at Pong and 524.8 Meter (1721.8 feet )at Ranjit sagar Dam.The outflow from Pong Dam is about 81000 cusecs and from Bhakra Dam it is 54000 cusecs.

Meanwhile , the PSPCL/PSTCL engineers will be contributing monetarily by donating one day's salary to the Chief Minister's relief fund in light of the unprecedented flood situation currently affecting large parts of Punjab as decided in an on-line meeting of Association.. The retired engineers will also contribute one day’s pension towards this noble cause.
