PHAGWARA: The Kapurthala Police observed Police Commemoration Day at the District Police Lines on Tuesday to pay solemn tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, including those martyred during the Hot Springs operation in Ladakh and in various other operations across the country.

The ceremony was led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Tura at the police memorial, where officers from the police, civil, and judicial departments gathered to offer floral tributes to the martyrs. In his address, SSP Tura recalled the courage and sacrifice of the ten police personnel who were killed in action on October 21, 1959, during an encounter with Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh. He said the day is observed every year to honour their valour and to remember all police personnel who have sacrificed their lives since Independence.

SSP Tura emphasized that the peace and security enjoyed by citizens today are made possible by the sacrifices of such brave officers. He urged everyone to ensure due respect and care for the families of martyrs and reiterated that the Punjab Police remains fully committed to their welfare. The SSP also directed officers to resolve issues faced by martyr families on a priority basis.
