BALLUABA:Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the next SAD-BSP alliance government would register a criminal case against Mr Charanjit Singh Channi for fraudulent misuse of public funds as chief minister for placing false advertisements.
The SAD President was talking to newsmen after addressing large functions at Balluana in favour of SAD-BSP alliance Candidate Hardev Singh Megh besides participating in an impressive road show.
Mr Sukhbir Badal said it is a crime to misuse public funds and the chief minister has committed a crime by placing advertisements stating that 36, 000 contractual employees had been regularized. “He has also cheated the contractual employees by claiming that the State Governor is sitting over the file recommending their regularization when the actual fact is that the relevant file is in the CM office”.
Mr Badal said it was shocking that Mr Channi was trying to befool employees with such cheap tricks. He said now that the Governor had exposed the chief minister by detailing that the file was in the CMO and was awaiting clarifications since December 31, Mr Channi did not have any moral right to continue in office. “He should submit his resignation immediately”.
The SAD President also announced that once the SAD-BSP alliance government was formed it would regularize all 36, 000 contractual employees at the earliest. He said earlier also in its last term the SAD led government had passed a Bill in this context. “However Congressmen got a PIL filed mischievously to stall this move. Later when a Congress government was formed it told the High Court that it would take back the Bill. However this was not done and another Bill regularizing the services of employees was passed. This is why the Governor has asked for a clarification as to why another Bill has been passed on the same subject when a case regarding the earlier Bill is still pending in court”.
When questioned about the recent statements of Pradesh Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu promising Rs 2, 000 per month to housewives besides other benefits, Mr Badal said “earlier Sidhu used to call benefits given to the poor and under –privileged sections of society as lollipops. Now he is competing with this chief minister to make even bigger promises knowing full well that none of the promises will be taken up for implementation. Was he sleeping earlier? Punjabis will never trust him.
Earlier while addressing the people, Mr Badal said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener Arvind Kejriwal had not given Rs one to any woman in Delhi but was promising Rs 2, 000 per month to women of Punjab. “He is trying to play a fraud on the women of Punjab”. Mr Badal also highlighted how the supposedly free 200 units per bill cycle could not be availed by people in Delhi due to stringent conditions.
Mr Badal also struck out at political leaders joining the BJP. He said these leaders should introspect upon their actions. He said they were not only displaying opportunism but insulting the 800 martyrs of the Kisan Andolan by joining the saffron party.
Speaking about the constituency, Mr Badal said all irrigation related problems would be resolved once and for all once the SAD-BSP alliance government was sworn in. “I am aware of the lack of irrigation facilities at the tail end of canals. We will rectify that besides providing underground pipe facilities at government cost to farmers”. He said all streets and drains would be relaid in concrete and street lights and quality drinking water would be provided in villages. “We will also restart RO systems and Sewa Kendras besides restarting distribution of sports kits and increasing social welfare benefits besides ensuring Rs 2, 000 per month to women heads of families”.
