NAWANSHAHR:Aam Aadmi Party Nawanshahr constituency in-charge Lalit Mohan Pathak alias Ballu in a press statement here today demanded from the newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to investigate the illegal mining taking place in Nawanshahr area. He said that Charanjit Singh Channi after assuming office as CM has made a statement that he will stop all illegal mining activities in the state but it was unlikely to be implemented as many senior Congress leaders are involved in it.
"The government is saying that it will not allow illegal mining. But in the last four-and-a-half years, the Congressmen who have amassed crores of rupees through illegal mining in the state especially Nawanshahr area need to be investigated as the level of illegal mining in the villages along the Sutlej River in Nawanshahr is huge and it is no secret that many local senior Congress leaders are involved in it, " he said. He said that with the coming of Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab not only the mining policy would be formulated keeping in view the interest of the common man but also those involved in illegal mining would be investigated and thrown in jails. "Work will be done in Punjab on the lines of the work done by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal government in the public interest, " he said.
