Nehru Youth Center conducts 'Fit India Freedom Race' at Chhota Ghallughara Memorial Chhamb, Kahunwan

GURDASPUR: Nehru Youth Center, Gurdaspur has organized 'Fit India Freedom Race 2.0' at Chhota Ghallughara Chhamb, Kahnuwan with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ishfaq as the Chief Guest.

The Deputy Commissioner flagged off the 'Fit India Freedom Race 2.0' and joined the race himself. On this occasion 75 volunteers from various Nehru Youth Centers participated in the 7 km long race. Alka Rawat, Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra Gurdaspur, Tej Pratap Singh Kahlon, Sarpanch Pargat Singh, Damanjit Singh in charge Chhota Ghallughara Memorial Chhamb, Kahnuwan etc. were present on the occasion.

Before the start of the race, flowers were also offered to the martyrs and an oath was administered under 'Fit India Freedom Race 2.0'. After the national anthem, the race was started. Various personalities including the Deputy Commissioner were also felicitated by the Nehru Youth Center on the occasion

Talking to media persons on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the initiative taken by Nehru Youth Center, Gurdaspur was a great one and it was time to pay special attention to our health.

He said that having a healthy society or good health is very important for the betterment and development of the society and we should all take care of our health and exercise at least half an hour daily.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that it is evident that most of the people do not pay attention to their health and as a result they fall prey to physical ailments.

He further said that daily exercise and balanced diet can prevent diseases and people of all age groups should pay full attention to their health.

Talking to the youth volunteers on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has taken special measures to provide employment and self-employment to the youth and free training was being imparted at the district employment office at Gurdaspur.

The main objective of which is to make the youth skilled so that they can get employment of at least Rs. 25, 000 per month. He appealed to the youth to get their registration done at the Jail Employment Office.

He further said that one library and one computer center was being set up at Gurdaspur, Fatehgarh Churian, Kalanor and Qadian which would help the youth to move ahead in various fields.

Earlier, Alka Rawat, Coordinator, Nehru Youth Center, Gurdaspur informed that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has organized 'Fit India Freedom Race 2.0' under the theme 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahautsav' dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of Independence. .

Under the Fit India Freedom Race 2.0, the Deputy Commissioner himself participated in the 7 km race with the volunteers and encouraged the volunteers. Refreshments were given to the volunteers after the end of the race
