AMRITSAR: The Punjab State Women's Commission is fully committed to safeguard the interests of women and the Commission is hearing the grievances of the aggrieved women seven days a week and taking action against them.
These words were uttered by the Chairperson of Punjab Women's Commission Mrs. Munisha Gulati while talking to the media she said
Lok Adalats would be set up from village to village for the protection of women and justice would be done to the women.
She said that in today's Lok Adalat 136 cases have been reviewed and 26 new cases have been received.
She said that during today's review cases, strict instructions have been given to the police to take action and report to the commission within 15 days.
Mrs. Munisha Gulati said that husband and wife are complementary to each other and both should take care of each other's interests.
She appealed to the people that every relationship should be respected and also appealed to the people to avoid contract marriage.
Responding to questions from the media, Madam Gulati said that there should be fast track courts to protect the interests of women so that women can get justice quickly.
She said that people should exercise restraint towards the commission. "Justice may be delayed but everyone will get justice, " she said.
Talking to reporters, Madam Gulati said that only those political parties who would talk about women's rights would be entitled to power.
She said that in today's age in a democracy 50 percent of the votes belong to women and women would play a vital role in the formation of the new government.
She said that the number of cases in the commission was increasing day by day. Therefore, the government has been asked to provide budget and other staff. Welcoming the new Commissioner of Police of the district Mr. Vikramjit Duggal, Ms. Gulati said that she was a good and virtuous officer and she hoped to work seriously for the rights of women.
Apart from Deputy Director Vijay Kumar, police officers were also present on the occasion.
