Kapurthala Food Safety Team Seizes 4 Quintals of Khoya in Early Morning Operation

PHAGWARA: In a significant food safety operation, the Kapurthala Food Safety Wing, under the guidance of Assistant Food Commissioner Dr. Harjot Pal Singh, intercepted a large consignment of khoya being transported illegally from Rajasthan to Amritsar. The operation was conducted early this morning at 5 a.m. at the Dhilwan Toll Plaza in Kapurthala district.

The action was taken following directives from Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Amit Panchal, and Civil Surgeon Kapurthala Dr. Sanjeev Bhagat. During a routine checkpoint, the team stopped a bus bearing registration number NL 02B 6011, en route from Rajasthan to Sri Amritsar Sahib.

Upon inspection, the team discovered that the khoya, intended for supply to various sweet shops across Amritsar, was concealed within the bus’s carriage storage. The driver, Hemraj, from Jaipur district, Rajasthan, revealed that the consignment belonged to Shyam, from Churu district, Rajasthan, who was present at the scene and confirmed the details of the supply.
