Kapurthala administration issues guidelines to use drones/UAV cameras

KAPURTHALA: In a major development, the district administration has issued guidelines to register and use of drones / UAV cameras across the districts , especially on social functions like weddings , parties and political gatherings.

Additional district megistrate cum ADC G kapurthala Mr Aditya uppal has issed orders in this regard under which he said that because of possibility of law & order
problems, security threats and possibility of misuse of Drones/UAVs by anti-social elements and
others who can create panic and public nuisance the registration and use of drones has been regulated.

He said that all the drones operating in District Kapurthala will be registered with SDM as per rules and regulations of DGCA and SDM shall issue a Unique Identification Number(UIN) and maintain a proper register mentioning the make, type, unique body chassis number of the Drone/UAV.

He also said that no Drone can be flown more than 400 feet vertically.
Besides that Drones cannot be flown in areas near airports, international borders, Strategic Locations, Vital Installations, Prohibited Zones, Government Buildings, CAPF and Military Installations.

No drone shall be flown after sunset and before sunrise and in case of any exigency, prior permission of DM/ADM shall be obtained, which may be issued on the recommendations of Sr.Superintendent of Police Kapurthala.

He also said taht the owner of the drone and operator there of shall be liable for all damages incurred, to person or property, due to mishandling or malfunctioning of drone.

He also made it clear that these restrictions will not be applicable to the Police personnel and other Government of officials/agencies if using the drone purely in connection with their official duties.

He also said that using the drone for photography during certain social events for which prior permission of the DM or ADM has been obtained in writing, which may be issued on the recommendations of Sr. Superintendent of Police Kapurthala. These social events may include-ring ceremony, pre-wedding photo shoot, wedding ceremony, social and political gatherings etc.

These orders will come into force with effect from August 1 to September 29.
