Justice Rajan Gupta shows keen interest to reunite a couple at Patiala

PATIALA: During National Lok Adalat held at District Courts, Patiala, a long pending litigation of a couple came to its logical end when Administrative Judge of the Patiala Sessions Divisions, Justice Rajan Gupta, Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh while visiting the bench being presided by Sh. Harish Anand, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Patiala, showed keen interest to reunite the couple by effecting amicable settlement between the duo.

Expressing his satisfaction over the disposing of the case of restitution of conjugal rights titled as Harinder Singh Vs. Narpinder Kaur, Justice Rajan Gupta, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh said that it was a matter of immense pleasure that the concept of Lok Adalat has reunite the couple again and both expressed consent to reside together for the secure future of their minor daughter by shunning all the litigations pending with the Court.

Citing one more example of fruitful results of National Lok Adalat, Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta said that the case pertaining to the land acquisition case that was presented before the bench of Rajvinder Singh, Additional District Judge, Patiala relating to the acquisition of land belonging to Sanjivani Educational and Charitable Trust Chandigarh, has also been got compromised in favour of the trust and long run litigation has come to its logical end. Due to the dispute between the parties, one civil case, one case under Section 138 NIA were pending and further an FIR bearing No. 319 dated 29.12.2021 U/S 120-B/420 IPC, City Rajpura was also registered against Ramandeep Singh one of the Director of Trust and Manmohan Sharma, Chairman of the Trust.

District and Sessions Judge, Rajinder Aggarwal while giving information of the cases disposed in today’s National Lok Adalat, said that as many as 912 cases disposed of by the 12 benches set up in the district Patiala at Patiala, Nabha, Rajpura and Samana. All types of cases except non-compoundable criminal cases were considered in these Lok Adalats, he added.

Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Miss Parminder Kaur, CJM saia that a total of 12 judicial benches (Patiala 9, Samana 01, Rajpura 01 & Nabha 01) were constituted in Patiala Sessions Division. During this National Lok Adalat, cases under different categories were taken up for settlement through amicable settlement and 912 Cases were settled involving amount of Rs 7, 90, 25, 47, 505 /- During this National Lok Adalat, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta, Judge, Punjab and High Court, Chandigarh along with Sh. Rajinder Aggarwal Ld. District and Sessions Judge, Ms Monika Sharma, Civil Judge(SD), Sh. Amit Malhan, CJM & Ms. Parminder Kaur, CJM/Secretary, DLSA Patiala visited Lok Adalat benches of Patiala court and motivated the parties to resolve their dispute amicably and peaceably by taking recourse to the National Lok Adalat.

Mr Justice Rajan Gupta said that the primary objective of the Lok Adalats is to settle the disputes amicably through compromise, so as to save the time and money of the parties and to reduce personal enmity between them. Mr Justice Rajan Gupta further told that Lok Adalats are having effective success rate in Matrimonial Cases, Cheque bounce cases and Motor Accident Claim Cases including other cases. Mr Justice Rajan Gupta appealed to the public that in Matrimonial cases, for the betterment of children, parties should leave their ego and they can opt for Pre-litigative mediation, counselling and mediation proceedings for better future.

Besides, Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta inaugurated the Covid 19 vaccination camp in the Courts Complex organized by District Judiciary, Patiala for the employees as well as the members of the Bar in coordination of the Health Department, Patiala. Apart from this, Justice Sh. Rajan Gupta inaugurated the De-Stress Room for Hon'ble Judges. In the De-Stress Room, arrangements of Table Tennis Carrom and Chess etc. have been made.
