Amritsar Police Must Conduct Thorough Investigation and Take Strict Action Against Culprits: Jathedar Gargajj
AMRITSAR: Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, visited the home of Kartar Singh in village Chohla Sahib, District Tarn Taran, to meet his family and express condolences over his mysterious death, who was serving as the in-charge of the Dharam Prachar Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Jathedar Gargajj said that Kartar Singh hailed from a martyr’s family — his father and two brothers were martyred during the Sikh struggle.
He added that Kartar Singh was a devoted Panthic personality who served the Sikh institutions with great dedication and honesty.
Jathedar Gargajj offered Ardas (Sikh prayer) before the Akal Purakh, seeking eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the family to accept His will.
During the meeting, Kartar Singh’s sisters and other family members expressed their concern that he was murdered and his body thrown into a canal. They insisted he was a high-spirited individual who could not have taken his own life. The family also shared that the police have not yet recovered his mobile phone and urged that no laxity should be shown in the investigation.
Commenting on the matter, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that Amritsar Police must carry out in-depth and impartial investigation and take strict action against the culprits.
SGPC member Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala, Additional Head Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Malkeet Singh, Head Pracharak Bhai Sarbjit Singh Dhotian, among others were also present .
