Issue of struggle against Rana Sodhi's factory in Hiranwali village of Fazilka resonated in Assembly

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raised the issue in the assembly of spreading of Cancer and Hepatitis C diseases in the village of Hiranwali in Fazilka during the ongoing budget session on Tuesday.

Taking up the issue, senior leader of the AAP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the people of this village were getting sick, earlier during the time of SAD-BJP and even now during the Congress rule. He said that the villagers were staging a permanent dharna to protest against the liquor factory running there. Cheema said the protesters were alleging that the factory was being run by former Congress minister Rana Sodhi.

Raising the issue in the Assembly, he appealed to resolve it on priority basis. It may be recalled that Harpal Singh Cheema had recently visited the villagers and listened to their grievances. The villagers had appealed to take up the matter in the Vidhan Sabha. As per the promise made to the villagers, Cheema took up the issue in the Vidhan Sabha.
