TARN TARAN: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Vice President and former MLA, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, today described the tragic deaths of two brothers in Jamarai village as living proof of the AAP government's failure, rather than a simple case of drug overdose. Expressing deep sorrow, he termed the incident a result of the government's "fraudulent" 'War Against Drugs' campaign and demanded a judicial inquiry into the drug network flourishing in the border district of Tarn Taran.
In a statement, Brahmpura said, "While the sons of Punjab are dying from drugs, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government are busy squandering the state treasury on false advertisements for a 'drug-free Punjab'. The harsh reality is that 'chitta' (heroin) is being home-delivered in the villages of the Khadoor Sahib constituency, while the police administration remains in a deep slumber."
He directly alleged that such a large-scale drug trade could not operate without a nexus between the police and smugglers. "The youth of Punjab is being destroyed today due to the weak political will and criminal negligence of the 'AAP' government. This government, which came to power on the slogan of 'change', has brought Punjab to the brink of disaster, " he stated.
Brahmpura is demanding nothing less than an immediate judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge to eradicate the entrenched drug cartel that has seized control of the Tarn Taran border district. He proclaimed that these deaths are not an isolated tragedy but a direct result of the rampant drug scourge devouring Punjab. He challenged the government to abandon its self-serving publicity stunts and wage an all-out war on the masterminds behind this devastation, sparing no one, whether they are shielded by a police badge or a political title.
Labeling the incident a "state-sponsored murder, " he demanded Rs. 1 crore in compensation for the family and insisted the government cover all educational expenses for the children of the deceased
