AMRITSAR: School of Social Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a Felicitation Ceremony. The ceremony was held to honour the prominent Alumni of the department Ms. Amritpal Kaur and Mr. Amritpal Singh who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2020 for which the result got declared last week. Ms. Amritpal Kaur secured AIR 435 and Mr. Amritpal Singh secured AIR 639.
The ceremony started with a Welcome Address by Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Head of the Department who threw light on the journey and achievements of the department over the past years. The Guest of Honour for the day was Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor delivered the Felicitation Address.
Prof. Sandhu talked about the achievements of the University in providing quality education to the students. He expressed his concern about the reducing number of Civil Servants from the state and acknowledged contributions of School of Social Sciences for producing 21 Civil Servants Since their inception in 2003-04 in Centre and State bureaucracy. The Vice Chancellor also presented the token of honour to the both the achievers.
Ms. Amritpal Kaur and Mr. Amritpal Singh talked about their respective journeys to success. They also enlightened the students about the importance of hardwork and dedication as the key to crack the examination. They were grateful to the faculty at School of Social Sciences who guided them during their graduation and after. Both the achievers also welcomed questions from the audience. The ceremony was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Rajesh Kumar who was grateful to worthy Vice Chancellor who graced the department with his presence. Prof. Kumar also thanked the Special Guests and their parents, faculty members, staff and students who were present for the ceremony.
