Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib this year. Various organisations are conducting seminars, kirtan darbars and other programs to commemorate the contribution of Guru Sahib.
Today, under the aegis of the North Zone Cultural Centre the department of Gurmat sangeet, Punjabi University, Patiala has organized online Gurbani Singing, to propagate the
contribution of Guru sahib in the field of music. The program was initiated by Gurmat sangeet presentation by Dr. Arash Preet Singh Rhythm, along with his students. He performed a
melodious recitation of Guru Teg Bahadar Bani with traditional string instruments i.e. Rabab, Dilruba, Taus and Jodi. Dr. Kanwaljit Singh In charge Department gurmata sangeet told that the
Kirtan hajari was performed with the predominance of gurbani, following the stereotypical tradition flourished by the Sikh gurus. On this occasion, Dr. B S Ghumman Vice Chancellor
Punjabi University, Dr. Saubhagya Vardhan Director North Zone Cultural Centre, Dr. Yashpal Sharma were especially present.
The second performance of Kirtan was given by Hazuri Ragi Bhai Sahib Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant. He sang the bani of Guru Tegh Bahadur Saheb. Appreciating the efforts of North
Zone Cultural Centre, Dr. B S Ghuman said that special programs are chalked out to celebrate 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib in the collaboration with Government of
Punjab. He told that the North Zone Cultural Centre will always be welcomed for such programs by Punjabi University. Vice Chancellor shared that department of Gurmat sangeet will release
the singing of all the ragas used by Guru Teg Bahadar Sahib with traditional string instruments with the prominence of Gurbani. It will be a gift for the devotees and researcher as well.
