PATIALA:The Aviation Industry is the fastest growing industry world-wide as well as in India'. The number of job opportunities in the field of Civil Aviation have increased manifold during the last couple of years.
Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College (PSAEC) Patiala provides a golden opportunity to secure jobs in the aviation industry.
This was stated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu at a press conference in PSAEC at Patiala on Monday.
"Demand is going to rise in coming years too. PSAEC was providing a boost to the Civil Aviation Industry in the state, " he added.
He pointed out that Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering scope in India is growing at a rapid pace as the Aviation sector is growing at 200 percent. India is the third-largest civil aviation marketplace in the world, having the potential to be in the first place.
The demand for the Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineers is increasing day by day. Lots of job options are available in government and the private sectors in India.
Prof. Sidhu said the work of Aeronautical Engineering is a combination of study, design, construct, manufacture, and test the aircraft and the entire flying vehicle within the Earth's atmosphere. An Aerospace Engineer designs, develops, researches, tests and maintains the performance of rockets, military & civil aircraft, missiles, weapons systems, satellites, etc.
Dr. Sidhu said major job opportunities are available in Air Force, Airlines, Corporate Research Companies, Helicopter Companies, Defense Ministry, Aviation Companies, NASA, Flying clubs, Aeronautical Laboratories, Aircraft manufacturers, government owned air services and many others.
It may be mentioned here that PSAEC, a premier institute in the country is a constituent College of MRS-PTU.
PSAEC offers B.Tech (Aeronautical Engineering), B. Tech. (Aerospace Engineering), Bachelor in Management Studies (Airlines, Tourism and Hospitality) and BBA (Aviation Management).
Prof. Sidhu pointed out that along with the flying crews, Ground technical staff plays an equally important role in achieving the ultimate airworthiness of Aircraft. He said that this college adjacent to the Patiala Aviation Club enabled the students to secure sufficient practical knowledge and flying experience.
While stressing on the need for creating excellence in Academic Research and Skill Development, he said due to the safety requirements in Aviation, we need to have a high level of personal integrity, commitment to accuracy and upholding standards in Aviation Engineering.
Later media-persons also visited the Aviation Club and Aerodrome to see the practical work.
