Farmers' organizations stage dharna at Nawanshahr railway station

NAWANSHAHR: On the call of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, Delhi to stop trains across the country in protest against the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, farmers' organizations here today staged dharna at the Railway Station which lasted from 10 am to 4 pm. No train could arrive or leave from the station during this period.  


Farmers' leaders who included district president of Kirti Kisan Union Surinder Singh Bains, Doaba Kisan Union president Kuldeep Singh Bajidpur, All India Kisan Sabha leader Mukand Lal, Jamhoori Kisan Sabha leader Satnam Singh Gulati, Istri Jagriti Manch  state president Gurbakhsh Kaur Sangha, district president of Women Wing of Kirti Kisan Union Surjit Kaur Uttal, President of Rehri Workers Union Hare Ram Singh, said that the main culprit of Lakhimpur Kheri incident was Ashish Mishra who was a son Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Mishra and the Modi government was not dismissing him from the cabinet as he the potential to save the culprits by remaining in office.  They said that their present protest was a struggle to get him removed from the office in the interests of fair investigation into the incident. Talking about their ongoing agitation against contentious farm laws, the leaders said these laws will not only spell doom for the farmers but also would result in the destruction of the people of the country. They are a means of filling the coffers of the corporates only, said the leaders.

Farmer leaders said that their struggle has now become a nationwide and public struggle and government efforts to link it with any particular religion, caste, or region will not be allowed to succeed. "This struggle will emerge victorious in any case, " they maintained.
