PATIALA: Electricity employees and pensioners protested against the arrogant behavior of the Power Minister in all divisions and sub divisions across Punjab and decided to continue work to rule till the new programme is announced at Ludhiana next week.
It may be mentioned that all employee union PSEB Employees Joint Forum, Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch Punjab, Association of Junior Engineers, Grid Substation Employees Union (Reg. 24), Powercom and Transco Pensioners Union (ETC), Pensioner Welfare Federation (Pehalwan), met power minister at Chandigarh yesterday at his invitation .
Kulwinder Singh Dhillon, Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind, Harpal Singh, said that the attitude of the Power Minister during the meeting held between the organizations and the Power Minister on April 16 was highly condemnable. During the meeting, the Power Minister did not consider it appropriate to even listen to the employees , let alone resolve their demands/issues, and the Power Minister and the management were seen backing away from the agreements made during the previous meeting, due to which the meeting remained inconclusive.
Addressing the gatherings today various leaders said that in view of this anti-employee attitude of the Power Minister and the long-pending demands and issues of the employees, the work-to-rule struggle given by the organizations today will continue.State-level protest will be held in front of the residence of the Chief Minister of Punjab in Sangrur in May, and a two-day complete strike will be held by the power employees in the second week of June.
The leaders also said that the industrial environment of this sensitive institution is deteriorating, which will have a direct impact on the common people. They demanded that the rightful and legitimate demands of the employees and pensioners be resolved immediately, otherwise the organizations will be forced to intensify the ongoing struggle, for which the responsibility will be the Power Minister and the management.
