BATALA: The ongoing preparations in connection with the marriage anniversary of the first Patsahhi Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji and Mata Sulakhni ji, today MLA Amansher Singh Sheri Kalsi and Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Dr. Himanshu Agarwal inspected the route of Nagar Kirtan coming from Gurudwara Sri Sultanpur Lodhi and on the spot gave strict instructions to the concerned officials to complete the unfinished work on time.
On this occasion Dr. Shayari Bhandari SDM-cum-Commissioner Municipal Corporation Batala and SP (H) JS Sandhu were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sherry Kalsi said that lakhs of devotees from the country and abroad come to Batala for the wedding ceremony (Viah Purb ) and adequate arrangements will be made for their facilities.
He said that the route of Nagar Kirtan coming from Gurdwara Sultanpur Lodhi to Batala has been inspected on September 21, a day before the Viah Purb on September 22, and instructions have been given to various concerned officials to carry out development work. He said that the Viah Purb events will be celebrated with full enthusiasm.
He told the officials of various departments that no laxity should be used in the Viah Purb and the preparations should be made in a smooth manner.
On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that the entire route from Jalandhar Road Batala to the end of the Nagar Kirtan will be decorated in a grand manner, apart from this, grand welcome gates will be constructed in all the squares of the city and colorful garlands will be decorated. He instructed the officials of the municipal corporation to clean the city and remove the garbage simultaneously and said that the cleaning campaign should be carried out even at night. Also, he asked to take action against the banners and hoardings boards illegally installed in the city so that there is no disruption in the beauty of the city. He instructed the officials of the Sewerage Department to check all the sewerages in the city and said that no sewerage should be uncovered. Instructing the officials of Powercom, the Deputy Commissioner said that the electric wires should not be exposed or loose at any place. Instructing the officials of PWD to repair the roads in the city, he said that it should be ensured that the pilgrims coming from abroad do not face any difficulty.
He gave guidelines to the officials of the police department to run the traffic smoothly for the convenience of the devotees so that the devotees do not face any difficulty. Apart from this, he instructed the officials of the concerned departments to complete the work in the entire route and asked them to ensure that they work with full devotion before the Viah Purb celebrated on September 22.
