Deputy Chief Minister Punjab will officiate the flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of Republic Day

AMRITSAR: Deputy Commissioner Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khaira said that Republic Day would be celebrated on 26th January with full vigor as per Kovid protocol.

He was addressing a meeting with the officials for advance arrangements at District Administrative Complex here today. Instructing the officers of various departments, Mr. Khaira said that the responsibility entrusted to celebrate the important day of 26th January should be fulfilled responsibly and diligently so that no shortcomings of any kind could be observed.

He said that any kind of deficiency would not be tolerated. He said that full dress rehearsal of the function would be held on January 24.

He said that this time the chief guest on the occasion of Republic Day would be the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and would officiate the flag hoisting ceremony.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the freedom fighters who have made special contribution for the country would be honored by the district administration by visiting their homes.

He asked the district police to make proper security arrangements on the occasion of Republic Day and also to make proper arrangements for parking.
The Deputy Commissioner said that it was very important for the staff on duty on Republic Day to complete the vaccination.

He said that apart from the provision of sanitation, drinking water, temporary toilets etc. at the venue, arrangements should also be made for the deployment of medical team by the health department.

He also asked the district police to conduct a high level training exercise for the march past to be held during the function. Mr. Khaira said that no cultural program and tableaus would be taken out keeping in view the covid rules.
Prominent amongst others who addressed the meeting included Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ruhi Dugg, District Revenue Officer Mr. Ravinder Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Apart from Mr. Amarjit Singh, Executive Secretary, Red Cross, Mr. Tajinder Singh Raja and other officials of various departments were also present.
