Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal mourns the family of late Jathedar Seva Singh Sekhwan

AMRITSAR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Punjab on Tuesday for a two-day visit. Kejriwal arrived at the Amritsar airport in the afternoon of Tuesday on a regular domestic flight from Delhi.

At the airport, party state president and MP Bhagwant Mann, in-charge of Punjab affairs Jarnail Singh and co-in-charge Raghav Chadha (both MLAs from Delhi), Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA Prof. Baljinder Kaur and other local party leaders came out in droves to welcome Arvind Kejriwal.

The convoy of vehicles of Kejriwal and other leaders has left for the village of Sekhwan (Batala) of the late former minister Jathedar Seva Singh Sekhwan.

Arriving at Sekhwan village, other leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann expressed their condolences to the family of the late Jathedar Sekhwan.

Jathedar Sekhwan's religious wife Sardarni Amarjit Kaur, son and party's Qadian assembly constituency in-charge Jagroop Singh Sekhwan and younger son Mehraj Singh were consoled and encouraged to follow God's will.

In a brief interaction with the media at Sekhwan, Arvind Kejriwal said that it was sad to come to the same house where Jathedar Seva Singh Sekhwan and his entire family had joined the Aam Aadmi Party today to express their condolences. "Jathedar Sekhwan was suffering from stomach ailment, " Kejriwal said.

Attempts were made to treat him at a hospital in Delhi, but he could not be saved as he had made a significant contribution to the service of Punjab, Panth and society.

Constituency Incharge Seri Kalsi from Batala, Constituency Incharge Balbir Singh Pannu from Fatehgarh Churian and other leaders were present.

It may be recalled that Jathedar Seva Singh Sekhwan passed away on October 6 after a long illness.
Earlier on August 26, Arvind Kejriwal had arrived from Delhi to inquire about the condition of the ailing Jathedar Sekhwan.

At the same time, Jathedar Sekhwan and his son Jagroop Singh Sekhwan formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
Kejriwal then left for Jalandhar, where he would bow to Mata Rani on the auspicious occasion of Navratri at the world famous Devi Talab Mandir and wish prosperity to Punjab.
