Dedicated to 400th Birth Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

PATIALA: Construction of a memorial gate dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Master, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, on the way to the historic Gurdwara Sri Moti Bagh Sahib was started today by various Sikh organizations of the city in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation by reciting the hymns of Chaupai Sahib.
The construction work of gate has been entrusted to Baba Amrik Singh Kar Sewa Wale and started in the presence of Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, Giani Pindarpal Singh, eminent scholar and preacher and Mrs. Preneet Kaur, MP from Patiala. PRTC Chairman K K Sharma, Municipal Corporation Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu and Senior Deputy Mayor Yoginder Singh Yogi joined the ceremony as a devotee.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Lok Sabha Member Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, also known as 'HIND Di CHADAR, the Punjab Government has slated a year-long program under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Preneet Kaur said that Punjab government would celebrate the centenary celebrations of Guru Sahib's birth anniversary with devotion and enthusiasm.
Mr. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation said that with the special initiative of Biba Jai Inder Kaur, the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has sanctioned Rs.92 lakh for the development works in the adjoining area of Gurdwara Sri Moti Bagh Sahib, the sacred place having the blessings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. This includes heritage lights, sidewalks, road construction, rainwater drainage works etc.
Mr. Bittu said that apart from this the Municipal Corporation had at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh removed the power lines, poles etc. from the road and no stone would be left unturned for the development of 1000 feet long stretch of road. Mr. Sanjeev Sharma said that we are blessed that this Gurpurab is coming in our time, so whatever the Sangat would order related to the Guru Sahib's Parkash Purab, will be fulfilled by the Municipal Corporation humbly.
On this occasion, Bhai Davinder Singh Khalsa Sohanewale, Bhai Amandeep Singh Taxal Bibi Kaulan Sri Amritsar , Mata Vipanpreet Kaur, Head Granthi Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Giani Pranam Singh, Head Granthi Moti Bagh Sahib Giani Harwinder Singh, Former Head Granthi Giani Sukhdev Singh, Giani Avtar Singh, Baba Nachhatar Singh Kali Kambliwale, Baba Inder Singh Kar Sewa Wale, Baba Harcharan Singh Nanaksar Kutia, Baba Karambir Singh Bedi, Baba Ajmer Singh Angitha Sahib, Giani Pritpal Singh preacher, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Kali Kambli and other dignitaries were present.
Organisations including Sri Guru Ram Dass Sewa Society, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sevak Jatha, The Khalsa Shatabdi Committee, Khalsa Akal Purakh Ki Fauj and all the Sangat of Patiala city in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Patiala have contributed for the construction. Meanwhile, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sevak Jatha also planted 400 saplings at Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib.
During the religious ceremony, OSD/CM Amrit Partap Singh Honey Sekhon, President Urban Congress K K Malhotra, Ramgarhia Welfare Board Senior Vice Chairman Jagjit Singh Saggu and Harvinder Singh Nippi were also present.
