Death of Corona patients at Level-1 and Level-2 will not be tolerated: DC Dr. Shena Aggarwal

NAWANSHAHR: While the district today witnessed three deaths and 125 new cases, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shena Aggarwal today at Civil Hospital Nawanshahr discussed the current situation of Covid-19 in the district, care of Covid patients in health institutions and the need for availability and uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen to deal with Corona epidemic in public and private hospitals.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Aditya Uppal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurdeep Singh Kapoor and Senior Medical Officer Dr. Mandeep Kamal and representatives of various private hospitals along with other senior officials of the health department were present.
On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shena Aggarwal had in-depth discussions with senior officials of the Health Department including Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurdeep Singh Kapoor and officials and representatives of all government and private health institutions on the current status of Covid-19, care of Covid patients and availability and need for oxygen. She urged to adopt a concrete, solid system to ensure treatment of critically ill patients of Covid-19.
Instructing the representatives of government and private healthcare institutions, she said that corona patients should not die at Level-1 and Level-2 under any circumstances. She said that 'if this happens then it will not be tolerated at any cost'. She said that in the Covid Care Centers established in the private hospitals, the services to Covid-19 patients who are in critical condition should be provided on a priority basis. She said that the patients who have more than 90% oxygen saturation should be referred to the government covid care facility or they should be treated with home isolation at home.
DC added that medical oxygen should be supplied to both public and private health institutions and uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen would be ensured to all the health institutions on priority basis to deal with COVID-19. She also said that black market of oxygen would not be allowed in the district and if any one was found involved in such activities then strict legal action would be taken against him.
She further added that a person who has tested positive for Covid-19 should not be tested again. If the person's test is negative, only his RT-PCR should be done.
