DC order banning movement of animals in herds not implemented

NAKODAR : The orders of District Magistrate Jalandhar banning the movement of cattle in form of herds has become a piece of paper as members of the Gujjar community are grazing their animals on roads, canals, and other places without any fear.
The then DC Varindar Kumar Sharma in his order issued on September 6 2017 had said that the general public and social associations have brought into his notice that many people especially in rural areas roam around with a herd of animals, Order said that this results in unwanted obstruction in traffic and cause accidents which causes human loss.
The order said these herds of animals destroy tree sampling plated on roads by the forest department and also farmer’s crops. It says that these herds of animals also affect Swash Campaign launched by Prime Minister.
The order has banned the movement of animals in herds in rural areas and authorized concerned authorities to act against violators.
Bhupindar Kumar alias Sonu a Nurmahal social activist in a recent representation to the deputy commissioner said that no action was taken by any competent authority or department to implement this order in the last four years.
He said that he and other residents lodged many complaints against the movement of animals in herds in rural and urban areas in Nurmahal police station but to no avail and demanded a permanent solution to this menace.Despite repeated attempts no officer could be available to comment.
