Cyber awareness and education are a must for all teachers : Prof Hardeep Singh

AMRITSAR: Prof Hardeep Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, inaugurated one week online Short-Term Course on “Cyber Security, Issues, Challenges and Interventions” being organized by UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Guru Nanak Dev University.

Director HRDC Prof. Sudha Jitender, welcomed the Chief guest and shared that the HRDC-GNDU was committed in organizing UGC sponsored programmes for faculty under the dynamic leadership of its Chief Patron, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu.

 While addressing the participants Prof. Hardeep Singh discussed about the common threats and issues related to cyber security. He deliberated that in these times of cyberage, it was very important for everyone to acquire technical knowhow and keep themselves updated. At the same time the one must be vigilant of cyber threats and the relevant solutions to prevent these.Prof Hardeep appreciated the efforts of HRDC in undertaking the online programmes and hoped that the course will enrich participating faculty members with better basic as well as technical understanding of the concepts. The Course Coordinator, Prof. Sandeep Sharma, Head Department of Computer Engineering and Technology, presented the course highlights and his idea of designing the programme. Deputy director HRDC, Dr Rajbir Bhatti thanked the Chief guest and university authorities for their steadfast support in smooth conduct of all programmes.

the short-term course is being attended by twenty-three teacher participants from several states including teachers from GNDU and other institutions. The academic sessions on the first day were chaired by Networking Security specialist, Mr. Vipin Gupta, Director U-Net Solutions.Mr Gupta is an acclaimed expert on Cyber security issues and Cloud computing and discussed the different cyber-security threats and vulnerabilities. He introduced the practical and theoretical perspective of various issues related to this topic.
