Congress party demands to suspend Punjab DGP and Chief Secretary who violated protocol by addressing AAP rally in Moga

CHANDIGARH: Former Education Minister and MLA Pargat Singh criticized the speeches made by the DGP and Chief Secretary of Punjab at an Aam Aadmi Party political rally in Moga. He said this is the first time in history that administrative officials addressed a political rally. Such open addresses by officials from the stage in a political rally not only violate service rules but also breach the Constitution.

He demanded departmental action against them and said they should be suspended. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, DGP Gaurav Yadav, and Chief Secretary K.P. Sinha should also provide clarification. He accused the BJP of attempting to destroy institutions.

Pargat Singh stated that the rally in Moga was not a government rally, but a political rally. If it had been a government rally, why did the party share the rally banners and flags on their social media handles and platforms? The party should answer what former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and state in-charge Manish Sisodia were doing at this “government” rally.

This is a serious matter of politicization of administrative and police officials. How can a civil servant address “AAP workers” from the stage at a political rally? The Governor of Punjab and the Central Government should seek clarification from these officials and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and take immediate departmental action to stop the politicization of police and administrative officials. These officials are acting like Aam Aadmi Party workers.

He further said that after these officials addressed the rally from the stage, the government may put pressure on other officials to speak at future rallies. The Aam Aadmi Party government is already misusing police and administrative officials in by-elections and other elections. This is the first time that officials are openly participating in rallies. The job of police and administrative officials is to maintain protocol at rallies, not to address them as politicians. This is a very serious matter and requires immediate action to prevent it.
