CHANDIGARH: Member of Legislative Assembly from Kapurthala Rana Gurjeet Singh offered all support to the government on behalf of the Congress party he comes from, for the betterment of Punjab.
Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday while taking part in the discussion over a resolution rejecting deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for safety and security of the dams and other such projects in the state, Rana Gurjeet Singh said that he offers full support to the resolution on his and his party’s behalf.
“Discussing old issues means not doing an operation but post mortem, and this attitude will not help anyone. A constructive discussion should take place on the current scenario, and not harping on the old issues which have no relevance now, ” said Kapurthala Legislator.
“We should fight for our right of the water as water is the lifeline for the agriculture state, ” said Rana Gurjeet Singh. Offering all support to the government, the legislator said that the Congress party will stand with the government in the fight for state’s rights.
He demanded that five states and union territory which share border with Pakistan – Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat be given special status and a special allocation be made in the annual budgetary allocations. Punjab alone shares 543 kilometres border with Pakistan. During wars and escalation the Border States had suffered the most.
