NATHABA:Former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said that Congress and Aam Admi Party had joined hands to defame Akali Dal during 2017 elections and now both stand exposed.
Addressing election meetings in favour of party candidate from Bhucho Mandi Darshan Singh Kotfatta, Bathinda MP said that as both the parties had realized that they will not be able to provide facilities at par with those being given by SAD led Government headed by Parkash Singh Badal, they joined hands to defame Akali Dal. She said that a malicious campaign was launched by both against us to create a sense of hatred among people.
She said that both succeeded in misguiding people and as a result of it Congress got power in state and AAP become Principal Opposition party.
Mrs. Badal said that during last five years AAP failed to perform role of opposition and even Arvind Kejriwal never visited during last five years to raise his voice on why Congress was not fulfilling its promises. Similarly Bhagwant Mann also did not raise his voice during this period.
Speaking about chief minister CharanjitChanni, the former union minister said despite being a cabinet minister for nearly five years Channi did not raise his voice in favour of the scheduled caste or weaker sections even once.
She said even when the future of 4.5 lakh students was destroyed and the Congress government stopped the SC Scholarship scheme Channi kept silent. “He even kept silent when lakhs of blue cards, which entitle the poor to subsidized ration, were deleted. He also did not utter a single word against any of the scams, be it the central ration scam or vaccine scam”.
Mrs Badal said Channi had as chief minister concentrated only on enriching himself. “This has also come out in the form of a self admission by the chief minister’s nephew Honey who has clearly said that the Rs 11 crore in case and gold seized from him had been received from the sand mafia as well as for postings and transfers. Everyone knows that the postings could have only been done by the chief minister”. Mrs Badal urged people not to be fooled by Channi in the same manner in which they had been befooled by the false oaths of CaptAmarinder Singh”.
Speaking about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Mrs Badal said Punjabis should understand that the Delhi Model which Arvind Kejriwal was trying to sell in Punjab would spell doom for the State. She said in Delhi the weaker sections were neither getting old age pension, shagun scheme nor subsidized ration. “They also have to pay through their nose for power. If AAP’s government is formed in Punjab it will take away all the social benefits extended to the people by S Parkash Singh Badal”.
Mrs Badal also talked about the anti-Punjab agenda of Arvind Kejriwal. She said the AAP Convener had taken a stand in the Supreme Court by filing an affidavit demanding the river waters of Punjab be transferred to Haryana and Delhi.
She said AAP had also filed affidavits in the apex court demanding Punjab’s thermal plants be closed down besides calling for registration of criminal cases against farmers who had burnt their paddy stubble due to various compulsions. “Such a party cannot be trusted to work for your welfare ever”, she added.
