Commissioner Patiala Division, Chander Gaind asks District authorities to increase sampling and vaccination to contain covid spread in District Fatehgarh Sahib

PATIALA: Mr. Chander Gaind, Commissioner, Patiala Division, while reviewing the COVID cases in Fatehgarh Sahib district online, emphasized on increased sampling and vaccination to prevent the spread of COVID infection in the district. He said that in view of the possibility of spike in cases of COVID, all arrangements should be made in advance in the district so that better treatment facilities could be provided to the COVID patients to contain further spread of the pandemic.
During the online meeting with Mrs. Amrit Kaur Gill, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib and Dr. Mahinder Singh, Civil Surgeon, Mr. Chander Gaind also reviewed the production of Oxygen Gas Plants in the district. He asked the authorities to implement the orders issued by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to check the spread of COVID infection in true letter and spirit.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Gill apprised the Divisional Commissioner Mr. Chander Gaind, about the availability of Level-2 bed facilities for the care of COVID patients in the district. She further said that there were a total 144 L-2 beds in government and private hospitals, out of these 23 beds are occupied in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
Mr. Gaind directed the authorities to monitor the availability of oxygen for critically ill patients in the district. DC Mrs. Gill informed that there are 6 oxygen plants in Fatehgarh Sahib district for which an audit committee has been constituted for monitoring and these oxygen plants are supplying oxygen in 17 districts of Punjab.
Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahinder Singh said that so far a total of 5243 cases have been reported in the district, out of which 523 are still active while 147 deaths have been reported. Besides, there are 484 patients in home isolation. District has a recovery rate of 92 percent while the positivity rate is 3.7 percent.
Mr. Chander Gaind also appealed to the residents of District Fatehgarh to extend their necessary cooperation for containing the spread of virus by adhering all the precautions.
