TARN TARAN: Following his re-appointment as the Vice President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), senior party leader and Khadoor Sahib constituency in-charge, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Goindwal Sahib on Friday to express his gratitude.
Accompanied by party leaders and workers, the former MLA offered prayers for the prosperity of the party and the betterment of Punjab. He was honored with a siropao (robe of honor) by the Gurdwara management.
Speaking to the media, Brahmpura thanked SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and the senior leadership for entrusting him with the key responsibility. "The Brahmpura family has always been dedicated to serving our diligent workers and the people of our constituency, " he stated.
Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the upcoming Tarn Taran assembly by-election, Brahmpura remarked, "AAP has a history of borrowing candidates from other parties instead of promoting its own volunteers, which is clear proof of its unprincipled politics." He expressed confidence that the people of Punjab, disillusioned with both Congress and AAP, would ensure a decisive victory for the Akali candidate, Bibi Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, laying the foundation for an SAD government in 2027.
When asked about the new political front formed by former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, Brahmpura launched a scathing attack. "When Giani Harpreet Singh approaches the Election Commission in Delhi to register his party, he will realize that he can get neither the name 'Shiromani Akali Dal' nor the symbol. My advice to him is to name his party 'Bhagora Dal' (Fugitive Party), as their actions are akin to those of fugitives, " he quipped.
Continuing his offensive, Brahmpura questioned the credentials of the leaders joining Giani Harpreet Singh. He specifically targeted Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, asking, "Has he ever sought forgiveness from the Panth at Sri Akal Takht Sahib for his involvement in the 1986 police action, 'Operation Black Thunder-1', at Sri Darbar Sahib under the Barnala government?" He reminded that prominent leaders, including Parkash Singh Badal and Captain Amarinder Singh, were among the 27 MLAs who had resigned in protest against the government's actions, while Prof. Chandumajra remained a cabinet minister in that "guilty government."
Brahmpura was accompanied by several senior party leaders, local office-bearers, and supporters during his visit.
