AMRITSAR:Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia today exposed hollow claims of Pradesh Congress President Navjot Sidhu on development of Amritsar East constituency by highlighting the pathetic condition of the Vallah Mandi.
Talking to newsmen on the spot at Vallah mandi, Mr. Majithia said Navjot Sidhu was trying to befool people with his so called Punjab Model whereas the truth was that he had not provided even basic facilities to people of his own constituency. “People can see how traders are forced to do their business in such poor conditions without even drainage facilities. This despite the fact that traders were contributing hundreds of crores to the State exchequer by way of taxes”.
Mr. Majithia said it was shameful to see that Navjot Sidhu was claiming that he had developed Amritsar East like none other constituency whereas people were crying for basic facilities and poor and pitiable conditions had become the order of the day. He said the Sidhu couple had enjoyed power for the last 18 years and Sidhu himself remained a MP and a state Cabinet Minister. “Sidhu’s wife has served as Chief Parliamentary Secretary. Despite holding such important positions the couple always closed their doors to the people of the constituency”.
Responding to a question about abusive language used by Sidhu for the Brahmin community, Mr. Majithia said Sidhu has once again proved that he was staunch anti Hindu and was hell bent on creating communal divide among people of society. He said earlier Sidhu had opposed the nomination of Sunil Jakhar as chief minister of the state and now his utterance against the Brahmin community had proved his animosity towards the Hindu community . He also criticized Sidhu for trying to intimidate the Sarpanch of Mudhal village and using foul language her and her husband and their supporters. He said pursuing politics of hatred and intimidation would prove disastrous for Sidhu.
Responding to a question about claims of Ravneet Bittu on inclusion of Punjab Model in the Congress manifesto, Mr. Majithia said “Rahul Gandhi has sent Bittu to befool Sidhu so as to ensure that he fails to create an divide in the party in these crucial days”.
On a question about recovery of Rs. 10 crore from chief minister Charanjit Channi’s nephew Honey, the SAD leader said “this money was not only that received from the sand mafia but also on account of transfers and posting. Honey was assigned duty to collect share of the bounty owed to the chief minister from from the liquor mafia, share for getting done CLU for lands and for posting of SSPs, IGs and other officers”.
Talking about AAP, Mr. Majithia said the Delhi model of AAP was a big fraud as Arvind Kejriwal had not provided any facility to people of Delhi which he had promised to Punjabis. He said implementation of the Delhi model meant withdrawing free power from farmers and withdrawing schemes like Shagun scheme, Old Age pension and aata - daal scheme.
