CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal has demanded compensation for families of martyred farmers at Shambhu border at par with soldiers martyred on borders as per saying of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” by CM Bhagwant Mann and other leaders even as party strongly condemned Bhagwant Mann government for non-action against guilty Haryana cops for seriously injuring Punjab farmers at their own land.

In a statement released here today, senior SAD leader and former Punjab Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia said that CM Bhagwant Mann repeatedly announces slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ but he is running away from providing relief to families of three farmers who have lost their lives in latest round of agitation at Punjab-Haryana borders. He said that when we treat soldiers and farmers equally then we should also provide equal compensation to families of both.

Mr. Majithia said that it was equally more shocking to note that Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann as well his Punjab Police is hesitant in taking action against Haryana cops who are involved in attack on Punjab farmers on their own land.

He said that on one hand Haryana DGP and others were claiming that their cops were not involved in using pellet guns whereas on a large number of farmers have lost their eye sights as well as other parts of body and suffered bullet wounds in firing by Haryana cops but still Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was not only acting against guilty Haryana cops but was also acting as an agent who is providing information about farmers on the forefront for farmer agitation.

Mr. Majithia urged Punjab CM that he should ensure that those guilty of injuring or seriously injuring Punjab farmers are brought to book as per law of the land and also provide requisite compensation to the families of those farmers who have lossed their lives in fresh round of agitation.
