AMRITSAR:Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today demanded an independent probe by a sitting judge of the high court or a CBI inquiry into the medical treatment extended to a gangster by Congress leaders close to cabinet ministers Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Randhawa in collusion with Johal hospital in Batala as well as the facilitation offered to dreaded gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria by Jails minister Sukhjinder Randhawa.

Addressing a media persons here, Mr Bikram Majithia presented CCTV video coverage to show how Congress leaders helped gangster Happy Shah, who was injured while executing the killing of
Rana Kandhowalia at K D hospital in Amritsar, seek treatment at Johal hospital in Batala. He showed video clips of three Congress leaders - councillor and local youth incharge Prabhjot Chatha, Jagtar Singh and Ladi Dairywala clustered outside the hospital where Kandhowalia was murdered and then two hours later at Johal hospital along with one of the perpetrators who was injured in the counter firing.

While demanding action including arrest of the three Congress leaders who were still roaming scot-free due to their closeness with Tript Rajinder Bajwa and Sukhjinder Randhawa, the SAD leader said due action should also be taken against Dr Sukhdev Singh Johal of Johal hospital for treating the gangster without informing the police. Mr Majithia also played video footage which showed gangster Happy Shah being escorted out of Johal hospital from the back gate after treatment. The video also showed Happy Shah thanking Dr Johal who Mr Majithja said was also known for his closeness with gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.

Mr Majithia said the SAD had been highlighting the gangster- police- jail administration nexus since the last four and a half years.

He said besides the KD hospital firing case in which Congress leaders and Johal hospital staff were being patronised by Mr Tript Bajwa, the Congress government had also facilitated the shifting of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria to Tihar in Delhi.

He said even though Bhagwanpuria had 59 cases registered against him in Punjab, the gangster was allowed to be shifted to Delhi on a ten day police remand in May but was still in Tihar since last three months. He said even the judge who had heard the plea calling for shifting of Bhagwanpuria had stated that Jaggu was running a crime syndicate in Bathinda jail and was involved in heinous crimes in league with inter - State criminals. “Now Bhagwanpuria is running a crime syndicate from Tihar and we are seeing the consequences here in Punjab”, the Akali leader added.

Mr Majithia asked chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to probe allegations of Rs 50 lakh changing hands in the case of Bhagwanpuria shifting as well as open access to mobile phones and other facilities to gangsters in Punjab jails. He said an independent probe should be ordered into the patronage being extended to gangsters in jail.
