CHANDIGARH: Anmol Gagan Mann former minister in the Bhagwant Mann government and sitting MLA OF Aam Aadmi Party today resigned from her seat in the Vidhan Sabha.
She has written on her Facebook page, " With a heavy heart, but I've decided to leave politics. My resignation given to Speaker Sahib from the post of MLA should be accepted. My greetings are with the party. I hope, the Punjab government will fulfill the expectations of the people.
She has not made clear about her resignation from the party as well though she has stated she has decided to leave politics.
A leading Punjabi singer and stage performer, Anmol Gagan Mann once considered close to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed disappointment over treatment meted out to leaders in the party. She said that she was 'unhappy' as grievances of party leaders and workers were not addressed by the party. She was also appointed Halka in charge recently.
Anmol Gagan Mann was Minister for tourism and culture before she was removed ceremonially. She was facing wrath of people in her constituency for lack of development in the area. She was instrumental in getting AAP into power in the Kharar Municipal Committee earlier controlled by Shiromani Akali Dal councillors. She was also one of the prominent face of AAP in the election campaign in 2022 assembly elections.
