AMRITSAR: Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, Smt. Sakshi Sahni, Amritsar Development Authority Chief Administrator, Nitesh Kumar Jain and Additional Chief Administrator, Smt. Inayat, illegally encroached on the footpaths made for people to walk by shopkeepers/hawkers within the corridor limits around Sri Darbar Sahib.
This action was taken by Estate Officer, ADA, Harjinder Singh Jassal in collaboration with ADA's B&E team. He said that complaints were received regarding shopkeepers/hawkers placing goods on the government road due to which the devotees who came to visit Sri Darbar Sahib faced difficulty.
In this regard, the ADA team had also strictly instructed the shopkeepers/street vendors to not put up their goods several times, but the said shopkeepers/street vendors used to put up their goods again. During the action taken on the spot, the team strictly warned the shopkeepers/street vendors that the goods should be kept only inside the shop and not encroach on the government road. If any person violates these orders in future, strict legal action will be initiated against the said person.
On this occasion, Sub-Divisional Engineer of the B&E branch of the corridor, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma; Junior Engineer, Mr. Simarpreet Singh Batra; Supervisor, Mr. Rakesh Kumar; ADA Security Wing staff along with a team of the Police Department were also present.
