Action to be taken against illegal occupation of hotels and restaurants on Airport Road-Sony

AMRITSAR: Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Mr. O. P. Prakash Soni in a meeting of the District Grievance Redressal Committee took stern notice of illegal occupancies on the roads by hotels and restaurants on Airport Road and directed the authorities to stop these illegal occupancies , Should be removed immediately.

Mr. Soni said that thousands of pilgrims come to Amritsar through this road and due to their illegal occupation, the passengers have a bad effect on Amritsar and there is a lot of difficulty in transportation.

Mr. Soni asked the Deputy Commissioner to immediately constitute a committee to take immediate action against them.
It was brought to the notice of Mr. Soni by the members of the District Grievance Redressal Committee that all the schools in the city are now open and any accident could happen with the arrival of heavy vehicles in the city.
The entry time of heavy vehicles in the city should be fixed and their entry should be restricted during school holidays.
During the meeting Mr. Hari Dev Sharma, Member, Grievance Redressal Committee brought to the notice of Mr. Soni that some Bangladeshis have set up camp on Government Drain Bypass, Majitha Road. And immediate action should be taken as it is in these huts that mischievous miscreants carry out the incident and go into hiding.
On this occasion Mr. Dharmbir Soni, Member, Grievance Redressal Committee pointed out that substandard material was being used in the bridge being constructed at Gate No. 22, on which Mr. Soni, Chairman, Grievance Redressal Committee, directed the officials of the Improvement Trust that He should personally supervise this work and report it.

Mr. Soni also asked the trust officials to construct a service line under the bridge so that the people do not face any difficulties.
On this occasion Mr.Virenderjit Singh Mann demanded that flyover should be constructed on Chheharta railway line as people were facing difficulties due to overcrowding in this market and Mr. Soni asked the concerned authorities to take action on this demand.

During the meeting the long pending demand regarding the construction of the road adjoining Qila Gobidgarh which leads to the barber turn was informed that action was already being taken by the Chairman Town Improvement Trust and this road would be constructed soon.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr. Soni said that today a farmer sitting on a dharna outside the house of Mr. Shweta Malik Member Rajya Sabha died of a heart attack which is a very tragic incident.

He said that the central government should give up its stubbornness and withdraw the three black laws. Mr. Soni said that today the district administration has announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to the family members of the deceased farmer. Mr. Soni said that in today's meeting about 49 complaints were received out of which 32 complaints were settled on the spot and the remaining complaints would be considered in the next meeting. He said that the members of the District Grievance Redressal Committee had also lodged several complaints against the Municipal Corporation which were mostly related to stray animals, traffic lights and sanitation.

He said that in this regard the Commissioner Municipal Corporation has been directed to settle these grievances immediately. He said that clear instructions have been given to the authorities that if the grievance of the complainant is settled beforehand then the complainant should not have to approach the grievance redressal committee and the grievances of the people should be settled on priority basis.

Addressing the meeting Deputy Commissioner Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khaira said that the main function of the District Grievance Redressal Committee was to resolve the grievances of the people and make the administration accountable. He directed the officers present in the meeting to ensure timely action on receipt of any complaint from any person and resolve the grievance as soon as possible.
