Action plan of Rs. 2.7 Crore approved for the Year 2021-22 to Promote Fisheries in Patiala District

PATIALA: To promote fish farming in Patiala district, an action plan of Rs.2.7 crore has been approved for the year 2021-22, during the district level meeting.
Divulging the details, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Preeti Yadav who chaired the meeting under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matasya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) said that an action plan for the projects to be implemented in the district, approved and the expenditure allocated.
During the meeting Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Preety Yadav, in consultation with all the members of the committee, allocated funds worth Rs. 84 lakh for construction of new ponds, Rs. 48 lakh for first year fertilizer feed, Rs. 7.50 lakh for re-circulatory aquaculture system, Rs 60 lakh for biofloc while Rs. 7.50 lakh for motorbikes with ice boxes under the action plan.
She said that the main objective of these projects, was to promote fish farming in Patiala district by adopting it as a mean of livelihood and to increase the income of the farmers. As per the guidelines issued by the Government of India under the said scheme, 40 percent of the unit cost would be provided as subsidy to the general category beneficiaries while 60 percent of the unit cost would be provided to SC / ST / women and co-operative groups for these projects and The Government of India will contribute 60 percent and the State Government 40 percent of the subsidy amount.
Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Assistant Director Fisheries, Pawan Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Kesar Singh Kheri, Fisheries Extension Officer, Gurjeet Singh, Fisheries Officer, Veerpal Kaur Jorrala, Narinder Kaur and members of the district level committee.
